My grandparents went to cochin on holiday on sunday. It feels quiet without them in the house. Its true that you only really appreciate someone when they are gone. I was supposed to go with them, but they thought i was having my operation in march so didnt book tickets. I pushed my op to may partially because i wanted to enjoy a bit in March with the people around me first. =)

Grandparents went with 2 of their friends around the same age as them. They're enjoying life i must say. Oh, and there was this lady, in her late 20's. The other couples grandaughter. She seemed a bit stuckup. I dont know. First impressions count a lot. I smiled and waved and portrayed my other friendly gestures( or so i think) at her but she just stared. Oh well. i know i shouldnt judge someone when i dont even know them, but its as if ive got the time anyway. haha.

So i celebrated my first day of freedom today by going out for a late movie. - munich. Its superb. If you can pull off getting through the M 18 rating, i suggest you GO FOR IT. very political. The movie was around 3 hours. and i got back at 1.15 am on a SCHOOOOL DAYYY and that made me get a good grilling from my parents.
so much for the freedom part.. pffttt

School anyways was nothing out of the ordinary. the usual boring lesson.. confined in a four walled shithole from 8 to 4. sheesh! i just cant wait to get busy in year two. cos when you get busy you dont have to think about random things, because obviously you dont have the f-ing time. Im too free nowadays, or so i have been for A YEAR!

I took the time to type a short email to someone. i dont know what my motive was for doing that.Why would i want to make someone else suffer with my thinking too much? maybe i should stop and go through everything on my own. Reading Nats blog and the advice her friend gave her about thinking too much. I realised its only going to make the person worry more and make me more worried and stressed out. I should stop. I guess thats the biggest problem with me.
I never stop thinking and i just say what i feel like saying without thinking of the possible consequnces.

i skipped school today to follow khai to Alexandra hospital for a doctors appointment. I dont recall ever being there, so i found the place quite interesting. I was born in NUH and have been going there all my 17 years for doctors appoinments.
Khai went inside for her appointment and boy was it taking long! almost half and hour into waiting outside the small B clinic, i got bored and decided to walk around..........

Flashback: Alexandra hospital was established in 1938. During WW2, the hospital was overrun by Japanese troops and more than 200 hospital staff and patients were massacred.. if my memory serves me correct ( its been a while since i looked through those history books!)
So because of its interesting history, the 'tour' around the hospital premises seemed a bit more exciting.

So i walked and walked and walked.....

until i ended up here at a random mac. hahaha. so im waiting for khai to be done.
probably going to walk around some more, cant go back cos its raining... BUMMER!

Todays lesson was fun. Was stuck in an all guys team. They make it more interesting. Jackson came out my class all of a sudden at 2 pm to tell me that he wanted to choose an elective. damn...
I looked through all the modules and thought of either taking up film criticism or Audio,video and music. But i scrapped the whole idea. ill just take up electives in semester two. In the meantime i can gain my stupid CE points. Ive only been to ONE talk so far. HAHA

I read a book in borders today. Saying women love to talk about things in detail. its so true.. at least for me. And women love to say things aloud. I thnk thats true. Cos i was on the way home and there was this working lady who looked at the time and said to herself aloud. ''DAMN, im late.. shit what am i going to do!''. hahahaha. amusing.

Prisoner diets his way to freedom

A prisoner dieted his way to freedom in Australia when he squeezed through a narrow gap after losing more than 3st.
Robert Cole, 36, escaped through a gap he had chiselled between the wall and the bars on his cell window.
Cole, a sex offender and armed robber, weighed 12st when he was jailed two years ago but had slimmed down to 8st 10lb.
"The security has let us down badly here," said Ian McLean, the deputy commissioner of New South Wales corrective services.
"The department is obviously very embarrassed by this. Cole is cunning and he is a great threat to the public."
Cole, described as mentally ill and possibly carrying a knife, escaped from the hospital of Long Bay maximum security prison in Sydney.
After squeezing through, he climbed a fence lined with razor wire, walked along a wall and jumped to freedom. Drops of blood on the ground indicated that he had cut himself on the razor wire.
There were no guards in a watchtower because the authorities relied on cameras and sensors. The security chief has been suspended.


Pigs glow in the dark

Scientists have created pigs that glow in the dark.
Scientists in Taiwan have used jellyfish genes to help create the animals.
The move is designed to help research into stem cell treatments for disease.
"There are partially fluorescent green pigs elsewhere," said Wu Shinn-Chih, assistant professor of animal science at the National Taiwan University.
"But ours are the only ones in the world that are green from inside out."
He added: "Even their hearts and internal organs are green."
Prof Wu said the fluorescent cells would show up during stem cell treatment of diseased organs, allowing physicians to monitor the healing progress.
"We hope it can help with future stem cell research by cutting down on the time researchers expend," he said.



Burglar pretended to be a dog

Police are hunting two thieves after one stole a purse from an elderly woman while his accomplice pretended to be a dog.
Police in Stockton-on-Tees say it was one of the most unusual distraction burglaries they've ever encountered.
The two men barged into a house owned by a brother and sister in their nineties just after midday on Saturday, reports local ITV news.
One of the thieves then dropped to his knees and started to bark like a dog and crawl around on all fours.
Police say while the shocked 90-year-old woman and her brother, 93, looked on in disbelief, the second man grabbed the woman's purse and the pair ran off.

1) i think cloning is seen differently depending on who views it. A scientist would say its a great thing, a great progress in technology because it might serve as a new, unusual but perhaps efficacious treatment for infertility but someone else like a priest would say its unethical to make a carbon copy out of something or someone.Its going against nature. cloning would prove to be beneficialbecause it may someday be possible to reverse the aging process or reverse heart attacks.Im sure you must have heard about Dolly, the worlds first cloned sheep.

They decided to clone dolly because studies showed that she had a lung disease and that cloning would somehow be able to reverse it. So theres a living example of it being a success, because dolly lived for a more number of years. However to certain stonge peoples eyes its unacceptable. I mean there would be a probability of the risk of abuse of the technology. what would Hitler have done with cloning technology if it was available in the 1940s? Cloning will create designer children which is actually moving against nature. We shouldnt play with what god created. I remember a particular sentence from the movie jurassic park where the person who visited the park said ' God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs...' Dont play with something nature chose to do because that would just result in more chaos.

Ithink in conclusion everything has its pros and cons and everyone would have a different idea about something. But what i feel is that the pros of cloning would outwit the cons because of ever changing technology and the mindsets of people.
